Our program is the first of its kind in New Jersey and a leader in the Northeast, uniquely integrating natural and physical sciences with social science, economics, policy, and project management to help you create sustainable, science-based solutions.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4tgo8yRni6c\" target=\"_blank\">Video Spotlight: Environmental Science and Management (PhD)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-band lt-gray no-margin\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<h2>Admission Requirements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Equivalent of a U.S. bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants with non-U.S. degrees: Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/how-to-apply\/international-applicants\/\">international applicants page<\/a> to review U.S. degree equivalency information.<\/li>\n<li>An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and\/or a masters degree with a GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact possible research advisors and projects prior to submitting an application and solicit letters of reference from university faculty who can specifically address your potential to conduct doctoral-level research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Application Checklist<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Application Deadline: December 15<sup>th<\/sup>, Fall Admission only<\/li>\n<li>Complete applications are reviewed in December and January, with interviews for select candidates in February. Admission decisions (accept, waitlist, decline) follow soon after. Admitted students must respond by April 15; after that date, remaining spots may be offered to waitlisted applicants.<\/li>\n<li>Deposit Required: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/commit\/\">An enrollment deposit<\/a> is required upon admission and will be applied to your first semester\u2019s tuition.<\/li>\n<li>Online Application: <a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.montclair.edu\/apply\/\">Submit application<\/a>\u00a0 and $60 non-refundable fee (or waiver if applicable).<\/li>\n<li>Transcript: One from each college attended.<\/li>\n<li>Essays\/Personal Statement: Two.\n<ul>\n<li>General Statement of Purpose: A strong personal statement will highlight your academic background, research experience, specific interests, and career goals. You should explain your motivation for pursuing a PhD and describe your readiness for doctoral research (2 page maximum)<\/li>\n<li>General Statement of Research\/Inquiry: Your research statement should describe your general research interests, propose future research directions, and explain how these align with the program\u2019s strengths and faculty expertise. The statement should highlight the significance of the work and its potential impact on the field. The essay should include a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/environmental-management-phd\/people\/\">list of faculty members<\/a> with whom you have communicated and who are willing to serve as your research advisor (2 page maximum).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Resume: Required. Please include publications, professional reports, and professional presentations.<\/li>\n<li>Letters of Recommendation: Three required. These letters should be from university faculty or professional supervisors who can attest to your potential for success in doctoral level research and coursework.<\/li>\n<li>Standardized Test Scores: GRE Not Required. Applicants have the option of submitting GRE scores.
