Professional relationships, friendships and mentorships can all result from time well spent at their alma mater. For some lucky students, another type of relationship develops amid the bustle of collegiate life: romance. For these couples, love blossomed right here at Montclair State.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the years, couples have also been inspired by the education and experience that they received at Montclair State to give back. The following stories serve as a good example of how deep connections to a school can result in University support.<\/p>\n<p>Read on to find out more about each of these couples who\u2019ve found true love at Montclair State!<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/Daniel-Infanti-and-Joette-Franco-1.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/Daniel-Infanti-and-Joette-Franco-1.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"Daniel Infanti and Joette Franco\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column two-thirds\">\n<p><strong>Daniel Infanti \u201976 <\/strong>and<strong> Joette Franco Infanti<\/strong> <strong>\u201976<\/strong> met on a Thursday night in 1976 at the crowded Rathskeller in the Student Center. Daniel, a Stone Hall resident, and Joette, a commuter from Nutley, were both seniors at that time and were a few of months away from graduating from Montclair State. Although they previously had seen each other in a mutual business class, it was the first time they acknowledged each other. \u201cWho would have thought we would be married four years later,\u201d says Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>The couple married on May 4, 1980, and celebrated the wedding just off campus at the old Robin Hood Inn on Valley Road. \u201cWe raised two sons in Morris County and have had a successful and happy life together in every way,\u201d he adds. In May 2020, the Infantis will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. \u201cWe\u2019re enjoying life at the Jersey Shore, and traveling around the country and world. Time flies when you&#8217;re having fun.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These sweethearts understand the importance of philanthropy at Montclair State. \u201cMontclair State gave us the foundation to build a great life together,\u201d says Daniel. \u201cWe are happy to help current students as they begin to build their lives and careers.\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/p><\/div><div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/The-Barrs.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/02\/The-Barrs.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"The Barr Couple\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column two-thirds\">\n<p><strong>Timothy Barr \u201963<\/strong> and <strong>Mary Barr \u201963 <\/strong>met during a mutual class. Their time as lab partners in Dr. McDowell\u2019s Zoology class is a fond memory that they both share. They had started dating just after the holidays that year and exchanged lab partners during the second semester so that they could sit together. During a dissection project, their shark specimen was the only one that contained an embryo. In astonishment, Dr. McDowell, jokingly, declared that it was a \u201csign from above\u201d and that they were going to have \u201cmany children\u201d of their own one day. Timothy and Mary married after graduation and had their first child. \u201cI reminded Dr. McDowell of his prediction when I ran into him on campus while working on my Masters,\u201d says Timothy. \u201cHe lit up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Barrs have also been generous over the years in giving back to Montclair State and the programs that taught them the skills they use to this day in their professional lives.<\/p>\n<p>For the Barrs, it is all about paying it forward. \u201cWe got an excellent education at a reasonable price and wanted to help the University thrive and provide the same opportunities we had,\u201d says Timothy. \u201cBoth of us had some great times in class, with our fraternity and sorority, and with friends, so it&#8217;s simply a remembrance of good things past as well.\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Are you a sweetheart couple?
