In 2017, the Office of Education and Community Outreach in the College of the Arts at 糖心vlog, in partnership with Kean University, and JCC MetroWest, expanded the reach of ReelAbilities programming in Northern New Jersey. This initiative was made possible by a generous grant from <a href=\"https:\/\/kesslerfoundation.org\/\">Kessler Foundation<\/a>. 糖心vlog has since served as the lead location for ReelAbilities New Jersey with additional film screenings and ReelAbilities programming offered at Kean University and JCC MetroWest. Post-screening discussions and other engaging programs bring together the community to explore, discuss, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience.<\/p>\n<h2>2024-2025 Events<\/h2>\n<h3>Eyes Like Mine: Dancing with the Blind<\/h3>\n<p><strong>May 17th and June 14th, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This highly anticipated event, inspired by the popular television show \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d, is designed to showcase the talent, strength, and resilience of blind and vision-impaired individuals while educating the public on their remarkable capabilities. The event also provides an exciting and unique platform to challenge perceptions and foster a deeper understanding of the abilities of individuals with vision loss.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/arts\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/164\/2025\/05\/3-1-240x300.png\" alt=\"Dancing with the Blin\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Eyes Like Mine: Community Baby Shower<\/h3>\n<p><strong>May 3, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/arts\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/164\/2025\/07\/Community-Baby-Shower-1-980x1225-1-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"Community Baby Shower\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This highly anticipated event is designed to bring together local communities to celebrate mothers with and without disabilities and their children, and to provide various basic baby care needs such as clothing, food, and toys. The event is for children under 2 years and is family friendly by design. We will feature vendors, panel discussions, games, awards, and end with the baby shower gift distribution. We will also have a film screening adaptive with the use of audio description devices for our attendees to engage with.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Audio Description Events at 糖心vlog<\/h3>\n<p>Thanks to the generous funding from the Kessler Foundation, through the ReelAbilities NJ Film Festival, the 糖心vlog has gained important accessibility devices for performances and screenings, including Audio Description devices from <em><strong>Listen Everywhere<\/strong><\/em>. His work has screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Margaret Mead Film Festival, and won the Walt Disney Award at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. His film \u201cPrayers for Peace\u201d screened at almost two hundred festivals worldwide and won over forty awards. He has written and mailed himself a letter every day for the past ten years and has all 3650 sealed letters neatly filed and categorized. Thanks to a grant from the Franklin Furnace Fund, the collection of over 3650 letters will be displayed in New York City in April 2012. She\u2019s a series regular in the Netflix series, Echoes, and she recently starred in the Lifetime holiday film, Christmas Ever After. She made history as the first actor in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway in Deaf West\u2019s acclaimed 2015 revival of Spring Awakening. Ali recurred in the final season of Netflix\u2019s <em>Ozark<\/em> and is in her second season recurring in Hulu\u2019s <em>Only Murders in the Building<\/em>. She co-wrote the 2021 novel, <em>The Chance to Fly<\/em>, and she wrote the 2022 children\u2019s book, <em>Ali and the Sea Stars<\/em>. This past summer, she was featured as \u2018Lady Anne\u2019 in the Shakespeare in the Park production of <em>Richard III<\/em>. She\u2019s performed her cabaret act at New York\u2019s Green Room 42 and solo\u2019ed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, New York\u2019s Town Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and Carnegie Hall. This act of solidarity was of course not legally binding, but provided allies and spectators with the opportunity to support disabled marriage equality. As a fun form of participation, guests were encouraged to wear festive wedding attire. Interracial and gay marriage has been codified at last. But disabled Americans remain excluded from this basic right. The federal \u201cmarriage penalty\u201d affects the lives of millions of disabled Americans who can\u2019t legally marry because they will lose their benefits.
