The Respondus LockDown Browser does not allow other windows to be opened during the quiz and helps mitigate cheating. As a student, Respondus LockDown Browser prevents you from printing, copying text, going to another URL, or accessing other applications.<\/p>\n<p>Students can access LockDown Browser by installing it on their PC, Mac, or iPad (access via iPad requires additional setup by instructors). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/borrow-a-laptop\/\">Loaner laptops<\/a> are available on campus for students who do not have access to compatible devices.<\/p>\n<h2>Downloading Respondus Lockdown Browser<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>LockDown Browser can also be downloaded directly from the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/download.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=879213189\" target=\"_blank\">unique Respondus LockDown Browser URL for ÌÇÐÄvlog<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Students who attempt to take a Canvas quiz which requires LockDown Browser from any other browser will be directed to download LockDown Browser<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Respondus Lockdown Browser on iPad<\/h2>\n<div id=\"PRPLDrawer3\" class=\"prpl-drawer-content\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"LockDown Browser on iPad\">\n<p>For exams using only LockDown Browser (not Respondus Monitor) the iPad option is automatically enabled. (instructions for students)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>*Note: <em>LockDown Browser is not compatible with other mobile devices.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Respondus Monitor (Lockdown Browser + Webcam)<\/h2>\n<p>Respondus Monitor is an extension to LockDown Browser that uses students\u2019 webcams and analytics to generate automated reports assessing any possibility of cheating for each user.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/web.respondus.com\/he\/monitor\/resources\/\">Additional documentation, including Quick Start Guides, are available on the Respondus Web Site.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>*Note: <em>The iPad option for Respondus Monitor (webcam) can be enabled on a quiz-by-quiz basis by your instructor. By default, the setting is not enabled. (instructions for faculty)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Taking an Assessment with Respondus Monitor<\/h3>\n<div id=\"PRPLDrawer7\" class=\"prpl-drawer-content\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Take an Assessment with Monitor (Students)\">\n<p>Launching a quiz with Monitor is an identical process to launching a regular LockDown Browser Assessment<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch LockDown Browser on your device (<a href=\"https:\/\/download.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=879213189\">install LockDown Browser beforehand<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>On launch, you should see a dropdown menu next to \u201cconnect to:\u201d YOU MUST select \u201cÌÇÐÄvlog Canvas\u201d or you will not be able to sign in<\/li>\n<li>Log into Canvas as you normally would<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to your course\u2019s quiz and begin the quiz<\/li>\n<li>Proceed through the Monitor Startup Sequence (note that the number of steps may vary depending on your instructor\u2019s settings)<\/li>\n<li>Take your assessment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Student Tips<\/h3>\n<div id=\"PRPLDrawer8\" class=\"prpl-drawer-content\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Student Tips\">\n<ul>\n<li>Remember, any alerts from Monitor will be reviewed by your professor, so as long as you honestly take the assessment as is intended, there should be absolutely no issue<\/li>\n<li>Try to focus your gaze as much as possible on your computer screen so that the webcam can maintain facial recognition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Respondus LockDown Browser creates a restricted test-taking environment.
