What are experts advising?<\/p>\n<p>Experts have been closely monitoring data coming out of Israel, which was proactive in giving boosters once residents received their two primary series vaccination doses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/~silveras\">Dr. Stephanie Silvera<\/a>, Professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/public-health\">Public Health Department<\/a>, noted that Israel&#8217;s data shows that \u201cantibody levels start to wane. And so having a second booster increases those antibody levels back to essentially, or close to, where they were.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cThe other part of this that\u2019s important is that people who had the booster during the omicron (surge) \u2014 that third dose during omicron \u2014 were much less likely to die if they were infected.
