{"id":5281,"date":"2010-03-23T10:13:26","date_gmt":"2010-03-23T14:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/news\/article.php?ArticleID=5281"},"modified":"2019-06-24T14:16:37","modified_gmt":"2019-06-24T18:16:37","slug":"5281_live-literature-monday-march-29th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-for-writing-excellence\/2010\/03\/23\/5281_live-literature-monday-march-29th\/","title":{"rendered":"Live Literature&#8211;Monday, March 29th"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Live Literature continues&#8230;<\/h2>\n<h3><!--more-->Monday, March 29 Cohen Lounge, Dickson Hall 4:00 p.m.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Sasha Troyan reading fiction<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Other than teaching at Montclair, Sasha Troyan has published two novels, <em>Angels in the Morning<\/em>, and <em>The Forgotten Island<\/em>.\u00a0 Her short story, \u201c<em>Hidden Works,\u201d<\/em> appeared in the Spring 2009 issue of <em>Ploughshares<\/em>, guest-edited by the poet Eleanor Wilner.<\/p>\n<h3>David Galef &#8211; reading fiction<\/h3>\n<p>A shameless eclectic, David Galef has published in far too many directions for his own good: novels, children\u2019s books, translations of Japanese proverbs, literary criticism, edited anthologies, poetry and short story collections and most recently, two poetry chapbooks and a fiction chapbook. He has written and published over eighty short stories in various international magazines and his essays and reviews have appeared in numerous publications including <em>The New York Times<\/em>, <em>The Village Voice<\/em>, <em>Twentieth Century Literature <\/em>and <em>The Columbia History of the British Novel<\/em> among others. His awards include a Fulbright fellowship, a Henfield Foundation grant, a Writers Exchange award from <em>Poets &amp; Writers<\/em>, as well as residencies at Yaddo and Ragdale. A co-founder of the MFA program in creative writing at the University of Mississippi, he is now a professor of English at ÌÇÐÄvlog.<\/p>\n<h3>Carrie O\u2019Dell &#8211; reading drama<\/h3>\n<p>Carrie O\u2019Dell is a dramaturg and playwright who serves as adjunct faculty in the first-year writing programs at MSU and at Marymount Manhattan College. She holds an MFA in Dramaturgy and a Graduate Certificate in Women\u2019s Studies from SUNY Stony Brook and a BA in Theatre from Rhodes College. She has served as a dramaturg fro Obie-award winning composer and director Elizabeth Swados as well as for Shalimar Productions and Young Playwrights, Inc.
