He supervises academic technology consultants (liaisons) in an effort to support faculty with instructional design, pedagogy consultations and assisting with the appropriate use of technology in teaching and learning. Michael also has multiple degrees in music theory/composition/music business and has taught face-to-face and online music courses for most of his career in academia, dating back to 1994. Michael also has an advanced degree in instructional design & technology, and developed expertise in online course design and instruction during his 21 years working at East Carolina University. His current interests are in developing students to become instructional consultants to faculty, providing a student perspective via course reviews. His Center is also involved in educational uses of AR and VR technologies, including less immersive but related technologies such as 360-degree videography and photography.

In this position, she heads The Studio, a media production lab in addition to being the subject liaison for both Journalism and Electronic Media and Studio Art. Michelle received her Master’s in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee and has a background in music education. Her research interests include learning styles and the creative process; how library services can impact and support learning; library assessment; and diversity in our communities.

Teresa Slobuski /chss-digital-media-colab/2018/01/01/presenter-teresa-slobuski/ /chss-digital-media-colab/2018/01/01/presenter-teresa-slobuski/#respond Mon, 01 Jan 2018 19:40:34 +0000 http://www.montclair.edu/chss-digital-media-colab/?p=563 Teresa Slobuski is the Head Librarian of the Vairo Library at Penn State Brandywine. In this role she oversees the operations of the library on campus and acts as a conduit between the libraries and campus students and faculty. She is currently the Association of College and Research Libraries’ representative to the Association of Specialized & Cooperative Library Agencies Accessibility Assembly. She is also a member of the Stonewall Book Awards Mike Morgan and Larry Romans Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award Committee, which highlights excellence in LGBT representation in Juvenile literature. Slobuski is passionate about access and social justice and actively works to improve both representation and recognition of all in libraries.

Slobuski completed her master’s degree in library and information science at Rutgers University in her home state of New Jersey. Her undergraduate degree in English is from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, with minors in Art History and Asian Studies. She began her career in the Scholarly Communication Center at Rutgers University as Project Manager for the New Jersey Environmental Digital Library, a joint effort with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to digitize and provide access to historical environmental data and reports. She then spent seven years as faculty librarian at San Jose State University, acting as liaison librarian to Teacher Education, Special Education, Social Work, and Design. She also served as the Research Services Coordinator for two years to oversee excellent public service in both digital and physical reference support.

She has conducted research on a variety of topics such as the impact of non-text media on information retrieval, children’s literature, informal learning and the development of 21st century skills, library space usage, and educational technology topics, especially the use of games as educational tools. She is a librarian because she is interested in knowing something about everything. In her free time, she spends as much time playing games as reason allows. She resides in West Chester, PA with her fuzzy friends.

Her primary areas of focus are online course development, engagement strategies, learning space design, and diversity in makerspaces.  Additionally, Veronica enjoys tinkering with technologies in support of projects related to narratives, storytelling and text analysis, such as oral histories and historical letters.

Currently, Dr. Bergin is the Vice President of Learning Research & Design at Macmillan Learning, where he leads a team of learning researchers and experience designers. Previously, he was the Vice President of Learning & Experience Design for Pearson’s Global Product Organization, and his team designed more than a dozen product models that included personalized and adaptive systems, online courseware, e-books, lab-based interventions, and handheld products. Dr. Bergin has also participated in learner environment and learning services design for Upward Bound, Rogers Memorial Hospital, the Wisconsin Health Education Center, Viacom, Tesseract Charter Schools, Sunrise Preschools, Maricopa Community Colleges, and Pearson Schools Group. Dr. Bergin holds a Ph.D. from Arizona State University and has presented and published on topics including learning design, online learning, and technology-augmented instruction.

Luing School of Business faculty to help develop and design their online classes through collaborative meetings via phone, in person, and video conferencing.  He also present at various conferences to include BBWorld, NJEdge, etc, as well as present webinars onsite at Berkeley College for online faculty.  C.L. also manage projects which included assistance in the first Berkeley College MOOC, Road to Success, and Online Orientation.
