Professor Joshua Sandry Receives Grant For Brain Injury Research

Dr. Joshua Sandry, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Director of the , was awarded a new $460,000 grant from the to investigate the functional neural markers of working and long-term memory impairment in individuals with traumatic brain injury. This brings the external funding awarded Dr. Sandry in support of his research lab, up to $1.3 million so far for this year.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can result in considerable difficulty learning and remembering new information and long-term memory impairment is one of the most common negative cognitive consequences of injury. Dr. Sandry’s research, , will apply updated models from cognitive neuroscience and cognitive psychology to clarify the relationship between the medial temporal lobe, working memory and long-term memory impairment in TBI.
