Lucy McDiarmid, Marie Frazee-Baldassare Professor of English, spoke at a symposium on the “Women of the Rising” on December 8 at the Embassy of Ireland USA in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

At the invitation of the Ambassador of Ireland, Anne Anderson, McDiarmid sat on a panel that examined the role of Irish women in the 1916 Rising. The symposium also looked at Ireland’s modern day commitment to recognizing the role of women in peace and security efforts around the world.<\/p>\n
McDiarmid is the author of the recent book, At Home in the Revolution: What Women Said and Did in 1916<\/em>.
