It is to support work on her second monograph, <em>Roger II of Sicily: Strategies of Identity and Power in the Twelfth-Century Mediterranean World<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Hayes is a historian of medieval Europe and her research interests include the social, religious and cultural history of the period, especially in the twelfth-century Mediterranean world. She is the author of\u00a0<em>Body and Sacred Place in Medieval Europe, 1100-1389: Interpreting the Case of Chartres Cathedral<\/em>\u00a0(Taylor &amp; Francis, 2003).
