On Friday, October 29th, the Coccia Institute collaborated for the first time with Watchung Booksellers<\/a>, a local community bookstore in Montclair, NJ, in presenting “Storytime on the Green” with acclaimed children’s book author, Dan Yaccarino.<\/p>\n

Yaccarino has had an exciting writing career from his children’s books, Parent’s Choice Award-winning animated TV series “Oswald” (Nick Jr), Emmy-winning “Willa’s Wild Life” (NBC and Qubo), and character designs for “The Backyardigans” (Nickelodeon), as well as his many illustrated toys, games, and other children’s products. In addition to his own stories, Dan’s bold, stylized illustrations add wit and energy to the work of such distinguished authors as Margaret Wise Brown, Jack Prelutsky, and Kevin Henkes. Dan’s internationally recognized art style has earned him a large following in Japan, exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Bologna, and a visit to the White House. He is also a contributing children’s book reviewer for the New York Times.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

This event featured Yaccarino’s latest book, entitled “The Longest Storm,” is a heartwarming story of a family hunkering down in their home together as an unexpected storm rages outside in a subtle nod to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yaccarino read his book to children within the Montclair community, and fun\u00a0 activities related to the book were also conducted.<\/p>\n
