The event began with the recognition of our outstanding Master&#8217;s students that had great achievements this past year scholastically and with their research.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matthew Khan (Marine Biology and Coastal Sciences)<\/li>\n<li>Michael Young (Biology)<\/li>\n<li>Nelson Casanova (Molecular Biology)<\/li>\n<li>Samar Mahmoud (Chemistry)<\/li>\n<li>Gabrielle Redgate (Computer Science)<\/li>\n<li>Hayley Rosado (Earth and Environmental Science)<\/li>\n<li>Stephanie Sherman (Environmental Studies)<\/li>\n<li>Christopher Marinello (Sustainability Science)<\/li>\n<li>Barnbebas Tafesse-Wolde (PhD in Environmental Management)<\/li>\n<li>Jeffrey Slepoi (Pure and Applied Mathematics)<\/li>\n<li>Nora Abbasi (Teaching Middle Grades Mathematics)<\/li>\n<li>Heather Lautiano (Statistics)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After the Master&#8217;s students the Margaret and Herman Sokol Awards were distributed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Graduating Summer Research Fellowship<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Craig Waitt (Chemistry)<\/li>\n<li>John Mitchell Clay (Environmental Science)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Graduate Fellowship in Science<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Danielle LeRoux (Biochemistry)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Faculty\/Student Research\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Tanya Blacic\/Michael Ayers (Earth and Environmental Studies)<\/li>\n<li>Gregory Pope\/Adam Fernandez (Earth and Environmental Studies)<\/li>\n<li>Pankaj Lal\/Christie Barry (Earth and Environmental Studies)<\/li>\n<li>Jaclyn Catalano\/Kevan Doyles (Chemistry and Biochemistry)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This was followed by the actual AOE awards, with recipients nominated by colleagues and selected by a committee of past winners.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Graduating Senior Research<\/strong><br \/>\nBlake Moore (Mathematical Sciences) Mentor: Marc Favata; Blake also received the first <strong>Joan L.
