  {"id":16,"date":"2017-08-08T20:00:27","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T20:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/english\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2024-03-04T15:11:26","modified_gmt":"2024-03-04T20:11:26","slug":"internships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/english\/internships\/","title":{"rendered":"Internships and Cooperative Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<dl>\n<dt>1. \u00a0 Who can take an English co-op\/internship?<\/dt>\n<dd>You must be at least a sophomore English major.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a B average in your English courses, you may take the co-op internship for major credit, which means that three of the credits from the internship may be applied towards English major electives.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not have a B average, you can still take an internship for free electives.<\/p>\n<p>Any full-time member of the English Department may supervise your internship.<\/dd>\n<dt>2. \u00a0When are internships offered?<\/dt>\n<dd>Internships are available for the duration of the fall, spring and summer semesters. Part-time internships (20 hours a week) usually carry four credits and full-time internships carry eight credits.<\/dd>\n<dt>3. \u00a0How do I begin the process and find an internship?<\/dt>\n<dd>Contact the CHSS Career Development office and <a href=\"\/chss\/student-services\/career-development\/find-an-internship-or-co-op\/\">read about the co-op and internship process<\/a>.<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<dt>4. \u00a0Can I develop my own internship?<\/dt>\n<dd>Yes, but in order for you to receive credit, the internship must be approved by the English Department. You also must go through the process above to enroll in a co-op English course.<\/p>\n<p>If you have found an internship online or through connections you might have, the employer will have to write a letter detailing the duties and tasks you will be responsible for during the internship and must complete a Student Developed Position form. The English Department co-op advisor will meet with you to discuss the internship.
