Strategies and Pedagogies for Belonging & Inclusion

It’s well known in Higher Education that students feeling a greater sense of belonging experience greater student success and overall well-being. But what do we mean when we say belonging? And what can faculty and staff do in the classroom to enhance feelings of belonging? Join Christopher Donoghue and Eunice Park to learn about classroom strategies and pedagogies that can raise feelings of belonging and inclusion. In this session, you will learn about culturally responsive teaching, scaffolding, place-based learning, transparency in learning, and more. You will also hear what our students had to say about belonging in a series of Belonging Brainstorming Sessions held in the last few months.

This study was commissioned by Provost Junius Gonzales to provide insights to all Montclair faculty and staff in their work ensuring student success. Understanding the insights gained from this survey will be helpful as we craft and hone our programming and work in and outside of classrooms.

All members of the Montclair community are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.

International Faculty Support Survey

This academic year, the Office for Faculty Excellence and the International Academic Initiatives are launching a new program focusing on international faculty support. As we work on building robust development and support programming, we are looking to gather perspectives from international faculty, new or seasoned, to answer the fundamental question: what do you need to be successful and feel supported?

We invite you to participate in this brief survey to understand better the support needs of international faculty at our university. Your input will help us design professional development opportunities that enhance your experience and address your specific needs. The survey should take no more than 5 minutes to complete.

Disclosing your identity is optional and entirely at your discretion. Your responses will remain confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of improving international faculty support services.

Faculty and faculty leaders are also encouraged to share the survey link within their professional circles at Montclair.

Finding Open Educational Resources (OER) for Your Course

The generative AI landscape continues to evolve, and conversations multiply about its impacts in higher education. As time passes, we keep learning to work ��ǳܲԻ��generative AI in our classrooms when needed — but we also keep learning to work �ɾ��ٳ��it.

We are pleased to announce that we have introduced a major update to our resources on generative AI recently, reflecting the ongoing changes in the field: Practical Responses to ChatGPT and Other Generative AI.
