This strategy builds on the earlier<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/faculty-excellence\/be-a-strong-student-campaign-support-time-management\/\"> \u201cplan your time\u201d<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here are some strategies instructors can implement:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assign<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/faculty-excellence\/foster-self-reflection-and-planning\/\"> self-reflection and planning activities <\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">such as exam wrappers or brief exercises after major assignments are submitted that prompt students to reflect on their learning process, and changes they might make in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Encourage students to think about <strong>how, when, and where<\/strong> they work best (for example, in the library at 4 pm). Students may believe that they work best under certain conditions, so encourage them to experiment with others to prove or disprove their inclination.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reserve some class time to discuss who learns best under which circumstances.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Offer a low-stakes activity (such as a discussion board) in which students share study strategies with their peers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have a dedicated five-minute block of time during class when students can initiate study groups or block out a few study slots on their calendars.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recommend CAST\u2019s <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-for-academic-success-and-tutoring\/tutorial-services\/\">Peer Academic Coaching<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (non-subject specific tutoring on study skills) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-for-academic-success-and-tutoring\/workshops\/\">workshops<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Help students realize that sometimes work must be done at a particular time, regardless of whether they are an early bird or night owl.
