Faculty interested in writing new courses typically begin by consulting their department curriculum committee and\/or the chair.<\/p>\n<p>To support faculty in drafting new course proposals, OFE has created a series of three documents. These will guide faculty in writing course proposals that meet the University&#8217;s requirements, that include the information needed for Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM), and that support not only creating a new course but teaching it.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Purpose<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To make the course proposal process simple, efficient, and useful<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To more explicitly connect the theoretical work of proposal writing to the actual work of teaching\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To develop support for new and adjunct faculty who may teach the course in:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">teaching courses as proposed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">delivering clear syllabi and required elements<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">experiencing easier course set-up\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Strategy<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A template for completing the course proposal process for CIM quickly and usefully (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1F3QZ2mxyD4fMNN0XunqnBIHU136-yhAXKnDZXUYq8ms\/copy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Step 1: CIM-friendly Course Proposal Worksheet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A model course proposal from Emily \u2013 the department or college may have better ones!
