The departments are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/university-college\/\">University College<\/a>\u2013\u00a0advises freshmen and undeclared sophomores. The department also offers many initiatives to monitor their progress and to foster a strong connection between the students\u2019 interests and their fields of study including orientation, learning communities, new student seminar, peer advising and honor societies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/student-development-campus-life\/academic-success-center\/\">The Academic Success Center<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0offers tutoring, supplemental instruction and study skills workshops to provide academic support to all students. The department also conducts the assessment of freshmen and some transfer students to ensure appropriate course placement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/eop\/\">Educational Opportunity Fund Program<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0provides quality academic support, leadership development, financial literacy, career enrichment, intentional counseling\/advisement and need-based financial assistance for motivated state residents from underrepresented populations\/areas that meet the income criteria and exhibit the potential for high achievement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/student-development-campus-life\/student-academic-services\/academic-success\/\" title=\"Home &amp;raquo; Montclair State &amp;raquo; Student Development and Campus Life (SDCL) &amp;raquo; Student Academic Services &amp;raquo; Academic Success &amp;amp; Retention Programs\">Center for Leadership and Engagement<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0provides hands-on orientation, campus adjustment support and advising resources to all students, specifically incoming sophomore and older transfer students, upperclassmen, KIPP scholars, adult learners, veteran\/military students and older-adult learners, in order to help them graduate in a timely fashion. The office assists veteran\/military students with all of their military benefit certification needs.
