For graduate assistants, the opportunity to work closely with faculty members and undergraduate students in teaching, research, or administrative environments is an integral part of their education at MSU. A graduate student\u2019s main objective is to earn a graduate degree; GA responsibilities should not interfere with a student\u2019s reasonable progress toward completion of their programs.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Graduate students who hold assistantships benefit academically and professionally. Depending on the type of assistantship, they will enhance their research skills; develop pedagogical skills; and acquire experience in leadership, interpersonal effectiveness, and other administrative experience; and gain access to opportunities that may result in joint publications and other future professional activities.
