Sarah Shelley, class of 2019, has always loved history. So it makes sense that she became a history major in fact, she enjoys her classes and the humanities so much that she also signed up for a second major — in classics — as well as minors in anthropology, archaeology, and myth studies.<\/p>\n

Long term, she wants to stay in the history field becoming a museum curator or perhaps getting a PhD to become a history professor.<\/p>\n

Building skills through service — both on and off campus<\/strong><\/p>\n

To pursue these ends, she’s volunteered as a tour guide at a local historical museum (the Hamilton House Museum<\/a> in Clifton, New Jersey). She also hones her presentation skills as a Montclair State Undergraduate Admissions Ambassador and gives campus tours to prospective students.<\/p>\n

Also on campus, Shelley is a member of Phi Theta Alpha History Honor Society, serves as a Student Conduct Panel Member and works as a presenter for the Bystander Intervention Program.<\/p>\n

In the summer of 2018, Shelley intends to study abroad in South Korea. At Korea University, she will take classes in language, media, and history.<\/p>\n

In addition to her career aspirations related to history and museums, she aspires to write a book one day… on her favorite historical figure, President James Garfield.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
