The New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits (NJDPB) has designated Wednesday, April 1-Thursday, April 30 as a Special Open Enrollment period for employees currently enrolled in the State Health Medical Plans. All changes made during this enrollment period will be effective Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

What’s New?

We continue to provide a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the current and future needs of our valued employees and their eligible dependents. We understand the importance of offering a range of plan options that can accommodate each employee’s unique circumstances and priorities.

  • During this period, all employees will be automatically enrolled in the with the same carrier, and new ID cards will be issued.
  • To review plan options, rates, and benefit resources, please visit .
  • Special Open Enrollment applies only to employees currently enrolled in a medical plan. Employees cannot add dependents.
  • Horizon MyWay Tax$ave will be updating their systems, and employees enrolled will receive new FSA cards effective July 1, 2026.
    • For questions regarding FSA, please contact Horizon MyWay at 1-888-215-0025.

Enrollment

  • No action is required: Employees who do not wish to make any changes will automatically be defaulted to the 2026 version of their current medical plan and will receive new ID cards.
  • Action is required. Employees who wish to make changes to their medical plan. can log into to review the plan options.
  • Beginning April 1, 2026, employees will be able to log into via or to review plan options and make changes.

At this time, Human Resources has not yet received full details from the State regarding the specific plan updates. However, we are sharing this early notice to ensure employees are aware of the upcoming Special Open Enrollment opportunity.

As soon as additional information becomes available from , including plan details, comparisons, and rate charts, it will be shared with the campus community.

Why Is There a Special Enrollment Period?

The State has shared that updates to SHBP medical plan offerings for 2026 are expected. This Special Open Enrollment will allow employees to review available medical plan options and make changes if they choose.

  • The Special Open Enrollment applies only to employees who are currently enrolled in medical plans. No dependent changes may be made during this enrollment period.
  • Employees who do not wish to make any changes will automatically be defaulted to the 2026 version of their current medical plan and will receive new ID cards.

Enrollment Timeline

  • Special Open Enrollment Period: ÌýApril 1 – April 30, 2026
  • Effective Date of Changes: Changes made during this Special Open Enrollment will become effective July 1, 2026.

SECURE 2.0 Act /human-resources/2026/02/19/secure-2-0-act/ /human-resources/2026/02/19/secure-2-0-act/#respond Thu, 19 Feb 2026 20:01:55 +0000 /human-resources/?p=9650 Effective January 1, 2026, the SECURE 2.0 Act introduces a mandatory Roth treatment for age-based catch-up contributions for certain high-income participants in the New Jersey Employees Deferred Compensation Plan (NJSEDCP).

Who is Affected:

This requirement applies to employees:

  • 50 years of age or older,
  • Had FICA wages of $150,000 or more in 2025, andÌý
  • Contribute more than the standard annual IRS limit in 2026

If you meet the above criteria then any contributions you make above the standard limit must be made as Roth (after-tax) contributions.

2026 Contribution Limits:

  • Standard 2026 annual limit: $24,500
  • Age 50+ catch-up: Additional $8,000
  • Age 60-63 catch-up: Additional $11,250

Important Information:

  • If you qualify under this rule, once you hit the standard IRS maximum your 457(b) deductions will stop.
  • If you would like to make the Roth catch-up contributions you will need to log into Workday to enroll in the 457(b) Roth.
