As a physiological ecologist, Lisa’s primary interest is in organism-level biology: how individual organisms function and behave, how they are influenced by their environment and their evolutionary history, and how this ultimately leads to the evolution of biological diversity. Her research focuses on the physiological ecology of reptiles and amphibians, integrating lab and field studies, often with a conservation-oriented approach. Her current major areas of study include the evolutionary and ecological patterns underlying osmoregulatory strategies used by reptiles with high-salt diets and the impact of anthropogenic changes to environmental salinity on temperate zone amphibian species; she is involved in several other projects as well. In both of her main areas of study, she has found fascinating variation among species in how they cope physiologically and behaviorally with environmental or dietary salts, with profound implications for the evolution of physiological traits and for the conservation of imperiled species. Students participate in all aspects of her research, and several have been co-authors on conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Kim Bazylewicz is the Director of Research Compliance at ÌÇÐÄvlog, and oversees the activities of the institutional research regulatory committees (IRB, IACUC, FCOI, IBC), and policies (including research misconduct and export control) to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and institutional policies. The Director interacts with Principal Investigators and other researchers and staff regarding implementation of their research to ensure policies and regulations are followed. She advocates for the development and implementation of new processes in the research compliance area that creates and supports responsible conduct and integrity in scientific research, including the development and implementation of educational programs. She also oversees research misconduct inquiries and investigations as the designated
\nResearch Integrity Officer (RIO).<\/p>\n

Carrie Laset is a part-time Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Research Compliance.\u00a0 She supports the operational needs of the office, which includes supporting the IACUC, IBC and IRB.\u00a0 In this role, she handles correspondence, coordinates receipt and processing of research proposals, schedules meetings, follows-up on IACUC, IBC and IRB requests from principal investigators, and provides customer service to students, faculty and departments conducting Research.\u00a0 Carrie earned her B.A. in Elementary and Special Needs Education from Boston College.\u00a0 She worked as a teacher before changing course into the research compliance community, and served as IACUC Coordinator at New York University.
