The Italian Artistic Legacy in Contemporary Silversmithing

Ubaldo Vitali, the first New Jerseyan and Italian as well as the first silversmith to win the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, will be the centerpiece of a lecture on the relationship between art history and technology as well as the influence of Italian art on his own work.
The conversation will also feature Ulysses Grant Dietz, the Senior Curator of Decorative Arts at the Newark Museum, and a display of selected pieces from Vitali’s personal silverwork collection.
