This collection of historic materials is a treasure trove of scrapbooks, photographs, VHS records of performances, and other items dating back to 1934.

Maggie-Ann Aube, Players Artistic Director, commented on the donation:

“Players has such a long history here at Montclair that tells such a story in itself through these photos of the creative process and freedom students have and how when given the opportunity, can put on the most beautiful artwork!”

The staff at the Library Archives will work to preserve the materials and make them accessible. Our preservation process will begin with rehousing the materials into archival quality enclosures. We will then work on digitizing the materials and making them accessible to the campus community and to the public.

President Cole Donates Flag to Library Archives /library/2021/08/11/cole-flag/ /library/2021/08/11/cole-flag/#respond Wed, 11 Aug 2021 19:54:15 +0000 http://www.montclair.edu/library/?p=1853 On June 22, 2021, Representative Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District presented President Susan A. Cole with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol. This was done in recognition of her Dr. Cole’s 23 years of distinguished service to ÌÇÐÄvlog. The Sprague Library Archives is proud to announce that, before she retired, President Cole donated this flag to the Archives.

The Capitol Flag Program began in 1937 when a Member of Congress requested a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol. The Architect of the Capitol fulfills all flag requests from members of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. Flags are flown daily year-round, weather permitting, excluding Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Currently, the Architect of the Capitol fulfills on average more than 100,000 flag requests from Members of Congress annually, with the number of requests and the popularity of the Capitol Flag Program growing steadily each year.
