With the Webster Hall demolition underway, there isn’t a better time to highlight the history of the man the building was named for.<\/p>\n

Webster began his time at ÌÇÐÄvlog in 1927, designated as the Head of the English department. He previously worked at Michigan State College for Teachers and studied at Bowdoin, Columbia, Harvard, Oxford and the University of Washington.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Webster supported the founding of the Senate (not to be confused with the current Montclair Senate), a club made up of men who wanted to attain a better appreciation of art, music and literature.<\/p>\n

In 1963, North Hall was renamed Webster Hall, an all men’s dorm, in his honor.<\/p>\n

Currently in Sprague Library\u2019s special collections lies a group of books donated by Webster. If you would like to view the books that were near and dear to him, come by the library to check out his sizable collection.<\/p>\n
