Below is an overview of the different benefits and resources, as well as the links to learn more about them.<\/p>\n<dl class=\"compact\">\n<dt>VA Education Office<\/dt>\n<dd>VA education benefits help Veterans, service members, and their qualified family members with needs like paying college tuition, finding the right school or training program, and getting career counseling. You can call the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/gibill\/contact_us.asp\" target=\"_blank\">VA Education Office<\/a> at <a href=\"tel:1-888-442-4551\">888-442-4551<\/a>.<\/dd>\n<dt>Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae<\/dt>\n<dd>If you\u2019ve served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/about-gi-bill-benefits\/post-9-11\/\" target=\"_blank\">Post-9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae<\/a> (Chapter 33). Find out if you can get this education benefit.<\/dd>\n<dt>VA Vocational Rehabilitation<\/dt>\n<dd>You may receive <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/vocrehab\/\" target=\"_blank\">Veteran Readiness and Employment<\/a> (VR&amp;E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching.<\/dd>\n<dt>VA Education Benefits for Survivors and Dependents<\/dt>\n<dd>If you\u2019re a dependent spouse or child\u2014or the surviving spouse or child\u2014of a Veteran, you may qualify for Chapter 35 benefits or job training through a GI Bill\u00ae program. Find out if you\u2019re eligible for <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/survivor-dependent-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\">VA Education Benefits for Survivors and Dependents<\/a> (also called Chapter 35 benefits).<\/dd>\n<dt>Montgomery GI Bill\u00ae Selected Reserve<\/dt>\n<dd>The <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/about-gi-bill-benefits\/montgomery-selected-reserve\/\" target=\"_blank\">Montgomery GI Bill\u00ae Selected Reserve<\/a> (MGIB-SR) program offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. If you\u2019re a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible for this benefit. Find out if you qualify.<\/dd>\n<dt>New Jersey National Guard Waiver<\/dt>\n<dd>National Guard Waiver covers a students\u2019 tuition only. The Waiver does not cover a student\u2019s fees, room\/board, and meal plans. Students must obtain a signed Commander\u2019s Certificate from their unit each semester and submit to the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/military-affiliated\/\" target=\"_blank\">Office of Veteran and Military Resources<\/a> (<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"mailto:gubitosij@montclair.edu\" target=\"_blank\">gubitosij@montclair.edu<\/a>).<\/dd>\n<dt>Military Tuition Assistance<\/dt>\n<dd>The military pays up to $4,500 per year, up to $250 per credit. Please see your specific branch&#8217;s Education Office website to see if you meet the requirements and apply for tuition assistance.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/military-affiliated\/tuition-assistance-return\/\">Tuition Assistance Return Policy.<\/a><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-half\"><span class=\"prpl-button full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/gi-bill-comparison-tool\/institution\/11901130\">GI Bill\u00ae Comparison Tool<\/a><\/span><\/div><div class=\"prpl-column one-half\"><span class=\"prpl-button full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/military-affiliated\/certification-process\/\">Certification Process<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Title 38 USC 3679(e) Compliance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The following policies and procedures are of primary concern to veterans, servicepersons, members of guard and selected reserves, and other eligible persons who receive VA educational benefits while enrolled at the University.<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with Title 38 US Code 3679 subsection (e), this school adopts the following additional provisions for any students using U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Post 9\/11 G.I. Bill\u00ae (Ch. 33) or Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Ch. 31) benefits, while payment to the institution is pending from the VA. This school will not:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prevent the student\u2019s enrollment;<\/li>\n<li>Assess a late penalty fee to;<\/li>\n<li>Require student secure alternative or additional funding;<\/li>\n<li>Deny their access to any resources (access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities) available to other students who have satisfied their tuition and fee bills to the institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, to qualify for this provision, such students may be required to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide Chapter 33 Certificate of Eligibility (or its equivalent) or for Chapter 31, VA VR&amp;E\u2019s contract with the school on VA Form 28-1905 by the first day of class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: Chapter 33 students can register at the VA Regional Office to use E-Benefits to get the equivalent of a Chapter 33 Certificate of Eligibility. Chapter 31 student cannot get a completed VA Form 28-1905 (or any equivalent) before the VA VR&amp;E case-manager issues it to the school.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide written request to be certified;<\/li>\n<li>Provide additional information needed to properly certify the enrollment as described in other institutional policies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Isakson and Roe Act Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To meet the outlined requirements of Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020, Section 1018 of Public Law 116-315 please see the information below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After a student completes their <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">FAFSA<\/a> application you will receive a College Financial Aid Planning document.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Financial aid planning, estimated cost of attendance (tuition\/fees, books, supplies and miscellaneous items), cost of living expenses, retention\/graduation rates, and estimated loan debt:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/red-hawk-central\/financial-aid\/student-handbook-for-financial-aid\/\">Student Handbook for Financial Aid<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/red-hawk-central\/student-accounts\/tuition-fees\/\">Tuition and Fees<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/collegenavigator\/?q=montclair+state+university&amp;s=all&amp;id=185590#fedloans\">College Navigator\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students using the Post 9\/11 GI Bill<\/span>\u00ae will have their tuition\/fees covered at the in-state tuition\/fee rate.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will evaluate all transfer credits from another school or the military. Once the credits are uploaded to your MSU degree audit you can speak with an academic advisor to see how they have been applied to your degree program.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Joint Service Transcripts (JST)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students who have served, or who are currently serving in the United States\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Armed Forces, are able to submit their Joint Services Transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Upon receipt, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will review the document and award credit for any entries listed at the lower baccalaureate level or higher. With the exception of credit for Physical Education, all other credits will come in as free electives.
