If your <\/span><strong>Duo Mobile app is not up to date<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Duo will stop working and \u00a0you may not be able to log in to University services that require <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/security\/duo-mfa\/\">multi-factor authentication (MFA)<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who needs to take action<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Android<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> users running <\/span><strong>Android 11 or later<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>iPhone\/iPad<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">users running <\/span><strong>iOS 15 or later<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What you need to do<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check your Duo Mobile app version and update if needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>To check your Duo Mobile version:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Open the Duo Mobile app.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tap the three-line menu (upper-left corner).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Look at the version number at the bottom of the menu.<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your version is <\/span><strong>4.85 or higher<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2192 No action needed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your version is <\/span><strong>below 4.85<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2192 Update required<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>To update Duo Mobile:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Open the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/duo-mobile\/id422663827\">App Store (iOS)<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.duosecurity.duomobile&amp;hl=en_US\">Google Play Store (Android)<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Search for <strong>Duo Mobile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tap <strong>Update<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (If you see <\/span><strong>Open<\/strong>, your app is already up to date).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Older Android devices<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you use an older Android device, Duo provides special versions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Android 8 &amp; 9: <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.duosecurity.com\/DuoMobile-4.33.1.apk\">DuoMobile-4.33.1.apk<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Android 10: <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.duosecurity.com\/DuoMobile-4.57.1.apk\">DuoMobile-4.57.1.apk<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/help.duo.com\/s\/article\/2211\">Duo Knowledge Base article 2211<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for instructions on installing these versions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Duo does not support non-standard Android devices (such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/help.duo.com\/s\/article\/5695\">Huawei devices<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) or devices running customized Android versions (e.g., <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/help.duo.com\/s\/article\/3435?language=en_US\">OxygensOS<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Why we recommend using the Duo Mobile app (Duo Push)<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Duo Push through the Duo Mobile app is the most secure and easiest way to approve logins.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Cryptographically secured<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> Uses end-to-end encryption between the University and your device, making it extremely difficult to intercept.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Free and convenient<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> No cost for faculty or staff, even when traveling. Duo Push works with Wi-Fi or cellular data, and passcodes are available offline.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Context-aware<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> The app shows the application you are logging into and the geographic location of the login attempt, helping you quickly spot and deny suspicious activity.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remember<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>:<\/strong> If you receive a Duo Push you do not recognize, deny it immediately and change your password.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Duo is updating its security certificates on March 31, 2026.
