From phishing emails to shady downloads, digital risks are real\u2014but so are the ways we can defend against them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This month, we\u2019re sharing simple, effective ways to keep your online presence secure. Whether you\u2019re a student, faculty, or staff member, here are tips and tools to help you stay safe in cyberspace.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Top 5 Online Safety Tips <\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Think Before You Click<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Don&#8217;t trust links from unknown sources\u2014especially if they ask for login credentials, personal data, or payment info. Hover to preview the link before clicking.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Update Your Passwords (and Make Them Strong!)<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Use passphrases or a password manager. Turn on 2FA for email, social media, and campus accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/security\/duo-mfa\/\">Duo MFA<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Check the Link When Shopping<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Only shop on secure sites (look for https:\/\/ and a lock icon). Avoid deals that seem too good to be true\u2014they probably are!
