{"id":208981,"date":"2023-09-19T11:18:34","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T15:18:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/president\/?p=208981"},"modified":"2023-11-17T08:47:45","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T13:47:45","slug":"university-rankings-montclair-is-no-7-in-the-nation-for-social-mobility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/president\/2023\/09\/19\/university-rankings-montclair-is-no-7-in-the-nation-for-social-mobility\/","title":{"rendered":"University Rankings: Montclair is No. 7 in the Nation for Social Mobility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The college rankings are out and there\u2019s good news!\u00a0 I&#8217;m not even talking about the well-deserved recognition of<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ÌÇÐÄvlog\u2026 but you can be sure I\u2019m gonna get to that!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is good for everyone that outlets like<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Wall Street Journal<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">U.S. Ne<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ws &amp; World Report<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are pivoting their focus to metrics that really matter to prospective students. They\u2019re sifting through data more critically than ever to assess how institutions change the lives of students and their families; evaluating who offers affordability without compromising quality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s through this lens that Montclair performed exceptionally well in this year\u2019s rankings. We are proud to be ranked by US News &amp; World Report as No. 7 in the nation and No. 1 in New Jersey in social mobility, a measure of how well schools enroll and graduate low-income and first-generation students and bring them closer to achieving the American Dream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Montclair was also ranked No. 11 in the nation for graduation rate performance, which measures how well students out-perform the anticipated graduation rate of those with similar backgrounds at other schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This follows on the heels of The Wall Street Journal\u2019s rankings of the nation\u2019s best colleges, which recognized Montclair as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No. 4 in New Jersey (ahead of Rutgers University and Seton Hall University)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No. 104 overall out of 400 institutions (ahead of New York University, Boston University, and Northeastern University)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No. 37 out of 204 public institutions (ahead of The University of Texas at Austin, Penn State, and the University of Maryland)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These new rankings demonstrate that a school can be accessible, affordable, rigorous and excellent. We are not just providing an exceptional value at Montclair, we are providing a truly excellent educational experience.
