The last two months have seen heated discussion about June\u2019s SCOTUS rulings on Affirmative Action. The press has been dominated by polarizing opinions, which is no surprise in a deeply divided America. And yet, fundamental questions about the relationship between higher education and opportunity have received scant attention from all parties.<\/span><\/p>\n

I address those questions in a piece for<\/span> Times Higher Education Campus and challenge the prevailing narrative that gaining admission to a small set of highly selective institutions is the be all and end all if you want to have a life filled with purpose, meaning, and success. I urge us to recognize that with public institutions doing the heavy lifting to advance social mobility and equity for students in this country, it\u2019s time to shift our focus and perceptions. I also offer strategic solutions based on what we\u2019ve learned at Montclair.<\/span><\/p>\n
