Bio:
Dr. Enza Antenos is an Associate Professor of Italian in the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the Founding Director of the BA in Language, Business & Culture, a joint initiative between the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Feliciano School of Business. Her role in the major bridges the gap between language education and professional preparation.

Her research focuses on curricular innovation in languages for specific purposes, with particular emphasis on experiential learning through internships, interdisciplinary projects, and cooperative education programs. A team member of a Mellon Foundation-funded initiative, she contributed to developing ����vlog's CHILL (Career Hub for International Language Learning), creating digital career resources and analytics tools that connect language education to professional opportunities. These initiatives foster authentic learning environments while building crucial synergies between academia and target-language communities, both locally and internationally.

Dr. Antenos’ scholarship spans the acquisition of elementary Italian, professional teacher preparation, and digital literacy in language education, including the integration of social media, online collaboration, and artificial intelligence. Her recent publications demonstrate her commitment to innovative language education, including “Language, Business & Culture: Innovative Directions in Foreign Language Curricula” in The Importance of Learning a Second Language: Essays on Re-envisioning Foreign Language Education, and “Language Advocacy in the Post-WVU Era – Challenges and New Directions: Perspectives From French” (Journal of Language Teaching and Research). Her chapter “Studying Italian With an Experiential Learning Project: The Case of ‘Italians of Greater New York’” (Franco Cesati Editore) exemplifies her approach to connecting academic study with community engagement. She has also published in Italica, the Calico Monograph Series, and Foreign Language Annals.

As the architect and chair of Montclair State's signature professional development program, Teaching Italian, now in its 17th year and developed in collaboration with the Coccia Institute, Dr. Antenos has significantly impacted Italian language pedagogy both domestically and internationally. Her commitment to experiential education extends to her role as the director of faculty-led study abroad programs in Italy (Florence, Perugia, Modena) and Morocco (Rabat), where she brings pedagogical innovation directly to immersive cultural contexts. Building on this extensive experience in Italian language instruction, she currently serves as the Teaching and Curriculum Coordinator at Middlebury College Language Schools' "Scuola italiana."
