Profile
Mark Effron is a Professor of Journalism and Coordinator of the News Lab at 糖心vlog's College of Communication and Media. He oversees the College's award-winning student news productions, including the Montclair News Lab weekly newscast and the Focus documentary series, and led the creation of Hawk Plus (hawkplus.tv)鈥攖he first student-run streaming platform of its kind in the country. He also manages the College's partnership with NBC's New York duopoly, WNBC and Telemundo 47, creating a pipeline of internships and jobs for Montclair students, and helps lead the College's Mentoring Program, now in its ninth year.
Before joining Montclair, Effron held senior leadership roles across television, cable, radio, and digital media鈥攊ncluding Vice President of Breaking News/Daytime Programming at MSNBC, Vice President of News at Post-Newsweek Stations, News Director at WPIX-TV, and General Manager of The Takeaway at New York Public Radio. He holds a Master's Degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Brandeis University.
