Open to librarians, tenure track and teaching faculty, and professional staff,\u00a0 this program supports employees in their career development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Possible uses of career development funds include, but are not limited to, e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">stablishing new skills or areas of expertise through meetings, workshops, symposia, short courses, training programs, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The application consists of a written proposal and a breakdown of requested budget items. It is recommended that applicants submit just one proposal, which may include a few elements that are tied together by a common theme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Note: Career Development funds are not to be used to support conference presentations or fund research activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Eligibility<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">AFT-eligible employees are eligible for Career Development Funds, provided they will be fully employed by the university during the year in which the funds would be distributed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Completion of the five-year self-assessment is a condition of eligibility for tenured faculty and librarians who are at five or more years post-tenure and thus are expected to complete their five-year self-assessment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>CDP Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Project Plan and Feasibility<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The quality and clarity of the proposed project plan, including the extent to which it is well-designed, realistic, and sufficient to complete the project and achieve the stated outcomes. This criterion also considers the employee\u2019s preparedness to carry out the plan, as demonstrated through the proposal and in alignment with the proposal guidelines.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Impact<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The extent to which the proposed project will meaningfully support the employee\u2019s professional growth and career development in alignment with the employee\u2019s role, office or department, and the University\u2019s mission. Proposals should clearly articulate how the project aligns with the employee\u2019s career goals and how it is relevant to, and will enhance, the employee\u2019s role and contributions at ÌÇÐÄvlog.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Priorities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications that are consistent with the expressed direction\/mission and needs of the college\/university;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications to improve instruction; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications from full-time faculty, librarians, and professional staff who have experienced a reassignment.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>CDP Application<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To apply you will need to submit the following items:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Completed Application<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The application asks tenured faculty and librarians to affirm that they have submitted a five-year self-assessment report.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resum\u00e9 or CV<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application due March 2, 2026 by 4:30 PM<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/montclair.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_agajj0BvD29cRTM\">Qualtrics Link<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<h3>Proposal Components<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please write a proposal (up to 3 pages) answering the following questions. Your proposal will be uploaded into the survey.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Note that projects for this application cycle must be conducted during the period 07\/01\/2026- 06\/30\/2027.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Indicate the value of the project <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to your professional career, as well as to the University and other faculty, librarians, and\/or professional staff (e.g., follow-up, in-house seminars), and outline your anticipated outcomes.\u00a0 Explain how your project is aligned with the Program\u2019s criteria and priorities, including how your project relates to 1) areas for improvement identified in previous assessments such as reappointment or performance evaluations, or 2) a five-year self-assessment report.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Detail your timeline and budget<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0 As you detail your budget, provide an estimated cost of the project and explain how the costs were estimated. Since you will be asked to enter specific dollar amounts by category later in the survey, in this section, you can simply provide a narrative to guide readers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The University Career Development Committee will review and evaluate your application based on these guidelines and requirements.\u00a0 Be sure your proposal is clear and concise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For travel, explain with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">details<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the mode(s) of travel, dates, meals, lodging, etc.\u00a0 All amounts should be in US dollars only. \u00a0 Travel regulations established by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsa.gov\/travel-resources?topnav=\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Government Service Administration (GSA)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> limit travel expenses.
