{"id":1055,"date":"2020-04-23T10:16:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T14:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/pseg-sustainability-institute\/?p=1055"},"modified":"2020-04-23T10:16:34","modified_gmt":"2020-04-23T14:16:34","slug":"virtual-earth-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/pseg-sustainability-institute\/2020\/04\/23\/virtual-earth-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Earth Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the novel coronavirus pandemic shifts daily routines and habits, environmental scientists are facing new questions: Will emissions from automobiles increase if people use public transportation less post-COVID-19? Will public transit survive? Will everyone now plant gardens at home and compost their food and garden scraps? How is the virus exacerbating the disparities caused by environmental racism and access to technology?<\/p>\n<p>Montclair State faculty, staff and students \u2013 working with Student Life and University Facilities and in collaboration with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/pseg_iss\">PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies<\/a>\u00a0(PSEG ISS) \u2013 have been tackling these questions in addition to developing stronger and more aligned green efforts across campus.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, they\u2019ve also been working to create virtual programming for the 50th Annual Earth Day taking place April 22 as well as to launch a campus-wide sustainability website.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We\u2019ve done a lot to build Montclair State\u2019s reputation for sustainability by aligning our efforts.
