A writing workshop with award-winning author Laura Pritchett, who joined a hybrid seminar via zoom.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best arguments in the world won\u2019t change a person\u2019s mind. The only thing that can do that is a good story.\u201d So writes Richard Powers in\u00a0The Overstory<\/em>, and in this class we\u2019ll be focusing on writing stories that change people\u2019s minds (in all genres, including fiction, poetry, and nonfiction). Come with a notebook or laptop and be ready to dive into a rigorous few hours of reading, writing, and craft talks about nature writing today.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Laura\u00a0Pritchett<\/span>\u2019s\u00a0<\/a>fiction is rooted in the natural world\u2014and celebrates the people who live close to it. She\u2019s the author of seven novels, two nonfiction books, and editor of three anthologies, and her work has been the recipient of the PEN USA Award, the Milkweed National Fiction Prize, the WILLA, the High Plains Book Award, and several Colorado Book Awards. She\u2019s also a freelance writer with publications in the LA Times, The New York Times, Orion, Terrain, Creative Nonfiction, and more. She holds a PhD from Purdue and she developed and directs the low-residency MFA in Nature Writing at Western Colorado University, one of the few graduate programs dedicated to writing about the natural world.<\/u><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
