Dr. Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Garc\u00eda Vizca\u00edno is Professor, Director of the Undergraduate<\/a> and Graduate<\/a> Programs in Spanish Translation, and Chair of the Department of Spanish and Latin Studies at ÌÇÐÄvlog where she teaches courses in Translation and Audio Description. She involves her students in community projects aimed at providing Spanish translation and audio description to Latino communities and Spanish-speaking visually-impaired audiences in the realm of fine and performing arts. Her main line of research currently focuses on audio description, touch, art, and blindness. In particular, she is currently working on the role of touch as an accessibility tool for sculpture and tactile resources in art museums. She has published multiple articles in academic journals and has given numerous lectures at national and international conferences.<\/div><\/div>\n

Anne Edstrom, deputy chair and associate professor, received her PhD in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Minnesota. \u00a0Her primary research interests are in the areas of Foreign Language Pedagogy, Pragmatics, and Sociolinguistics.\u00a0 She teaches courses in Methodology for Second\/Foreign Language Teaching, Hispanic Linguistics and Beginning and Intermediate Spanish. \u00a0She is a co-editor of El espa\u00f1ol a trav\u00e9s de la ling\u00fc\u00edstica: Preguntas y respuestas<\/em>\u00a0published by Cascadilla Press (2008) and has published articles on both pragmatics and pedagogical issues in journals such as\u00a0Hispania, Foreign Language Annals, Canadian Modern Language Review<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Journal of Pragmatics<\/em>.<\/div><\/div>\n
