FY27 SL-RSCA Internal Award Program now Live

The Office of Research is pleased to announce the launch of the Student-Led Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (SL-RSCA) Program for FY27. Students are encouraged to review our Internal Awards web page to review guidelines, access the InfoReady application system, and review upcoming webinars and available resources for this program. Applications are due by Thursday, April 30th.

Impact of the Government Shutdown

Proposals and Application Systems

Proposal preparation systems are expected to still be online during a shutdown. However, it is expected that proposals will not be processed by agencies until normal operations resume. Please watch for announcements from agencies for extensions of deadline dates, but these may not be issued until after the shutdown. There is a possibility that the Grants.gov Contact Center will remain available. However, it’s unclear if all Help Desks systems will remain functional.

Federal Agency Personnel

Federal personnel will not be available during the shutdown. While each agency may have its own emergency contact procedures, as a general rule, do not expect federal personnel to be available.

New Awards and Other Actions

Issuance of new awards. Agencies will likely not issue new notices, awards, or other actions during the shutdown (e.g., no-cost extensions).

Stop Work Orders

FY26 Student-Led RSCA Competition Now Launched

The Office of Research is pleased to announce the launch of the FY26 Student-Led Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (RSCA) program. This 1-year internal award supports student-led research, scholarship, and creative activities by undergraduate and graduate students under the guidance of a faculty mentor. The Office of Research will be hosting an informational webinar on May 21 and holding “open lab” Zoom sessions for interested students.

APLU Launches New Resource Webpage

The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) Council on Research has launched a new . These resources are products of collaboration with other higher education associations such as AAU, COGR, AAMC, and AIRI. These resources are intended to help explain F&A to those new to the concept and why these reimbursements are a critical component of the research enterprise.

Cayuse Research Suite – Technical Issues

Cayuse Research Suite is currently experiencing technical issues for all users. Users will not be able to access the Sponsored Programs (SP), Proposals (formerly 424), or IRB platforms. The Cayuse Global Support team is still actively engaged and working toward a resolution.

Now Offering: SRAI LevelUP Modules

The Office of Sponsored Programs is now offering access to LevelUP Training Program. LevelUp is a series of online self-paced modules for those interested in learning more about grants administration and management. There will be two virtual workshops to introduce Montclair users to the platform: Wednesday, 2/12, from 12-12:30pm and Tuesday, 3/11, from 10-10:30am.

Changes Coming to NIH Applications and Peer Review in 2025

The National Institutes of Health has created a web page that will serve as a central location where you can learn more about multiple changes coming in 2025 that will affect the submission and review of NIH grant applications.

These changes include updates to the peer review and submission of most research project grants, fellowships, and training grants; Common Forms for NIH biographical sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support; updated instructions for reference letters; and the transition to FORMS-I application instructions.
