\nHeather Benton <\/strong>\u2022 Theatre and Dance \nWendy Gilbert-Simon<\/strong> \u2022 Global Education Center \n<\/strong>Devised Theatre Project of the Americas: US and Chile \n<\/em>US Department of State \n<\/strong><\/em>$42,000 \nThis project–funded by a subaward from the Partners of the Americas Foundation–will expand a collaborative theatre student exchange pilot program developed with Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile, into a sustainable exchange to create a newly devised theatre piece. It will create a platform that utilizes artistic collaboration to help students explore the intersections between cultures and cross barriers, despite language differences. \n<\/strong> \n<\/div>

\nPaul Bologna<\/strong>\u00a0\u2022 Biology \nJohn Gaynor<\/strong> \u2022 Biology \nAssessment of clinging jellyfish <\/em>Gonionemus vertens populations in the Shrewsbury River Estuary and the Manasquan River Estuary – Supplement<\/em> \nNJ Department of Environmental Protection \n$30,797 \nThis supplemental funding will provide data to identify and quantify the distribution and abundance of G. vertens<\/em>–invasive clinging jellyfish–from the Shrewsbury Estuary and the Manasquan River Estuary. \n<\/div>

\nJason Dickinson<\/strong> \u2022 Robert D. McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy \nSummer Housing Internship Program – SHIP FY17<\/em> \nNJ Department of Children and Families \n$127,496 \nThis program–funded by a subaward from Rutgers University–offers an alternative to recipients of the New Jersey Foster Care scholarship who lack the financial, family and social connections to secure safe and stable housing in the summer months. Students between the ages of 18 and 22 are given the opportunity to receive quality housing and paid internship positions throughout the summer months. Ten students participate in the SHIP program, on ÌÇÐÄvlog\u2019s campus for 11 weeks, beginning in June of each year. \n<\/div>

\nJinshan Gao<\/strong> \u2022 Chemistry and Biochemistry \nRUI: Glycan Characterization and Quantitative Analysis via Free Radical Induced Dissociation<\/em> \nNational Science Foundation \n$103,000 \nDr. Gao’s project will develop a new approach for glycan characterization and quantitation by combing the merits of free radical chemistry and mass spectrometry. \n \n<\/div>

\nNina Goodey<\/strong> \u2022 Chemistry and Biochemistry \nKeith Lange<\/strong> \u2022 Undergraduate Student, Chemistry and Biochemistry \nASBMB Undergraduate Research Award<\/em> \nAmerican Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology \n$1,000 \nThis project will elucidate the structure of both Wb<\/em>DHFR and Bm<\/em>DHFR to help find selective inhibitors which will effectively eliminate the parasitic presence of these two worms in humans. Once the crystal structures from both organisms are resolved, Mr. Lange, along with Dr. Goodey\u2019s lab, will begin testing several possible inhibitors. \n<\/div>

\nDonna Lorenzo<\/strong> \u2022 Health Careers \nÌÇÐÄvlog Upward Bound Project – Year 1<\/em> \nUS Department of Education \n$257,500 \nThis 5-year project will serve Eastside High School\/Campus, which is comprised of three Schools\/Academies in the target area of Paterson, NJ, providing 52 students with a six-week commuter summer session followed by an academic component comprised of 25 Saturday sessions. Emphasis will be placed on identifying eligible students who are low income and first generation. \n<\/div>

\nJennifer Urban<\/strong> \u2022 Family and Child Studies \nProposal to Evaluate the Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia\u2019s Center to Promote Adolescent Health, Character and Well-Being: Translation and Dissemination Core<\/em> \nJohn Templeton Foundation \n$106,521 \nDr. Urban’s project, funded by a subaward from the Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia, will develop a complete evaluation plan and subsequently assess the implementation (process) and outcomes of the Center to Promote Adolescent Health, Character and Well-Being’s Translation and Dissemination Core <\/em>(TDC). The TDC’s goals are to reframe expectations surrounding adolescence to focus on positive potential, and translate and disseminate research in character development in an accessible and actionable style. \n<\/div>

\nJude Uy<\/strong> \u2022 Counseling and Psychological Services \nJaclyn Freidman-Lombardo<\/strong> \u2022 Counseling and Psychological Services \nProject Suicide Awareness Violence Education and Response (Project SAVER) at ÌÇÐÄvlog<\/em> \nUS Department of Health and Human Services\/SAMHSA \n$102,000\n
Project SAVER, a 3-year program,\u00a0will support mental health services on campus focused on suicide and self and other directed violence prevention. The initiatives proposed by Project SAVER are comprised of two major components, a MSU on-campus initiative, known as Project HawkSAVER, and an off-campus initiative to establish a consortium for suicide prevention among institutions of higher education throughout the state of New Jersey, or The University and College Alliance for Prevention of Suicide (UCAPS).<\/div>\n<\/div>
