Through their participation in the innovative degree program, these students will obtain an undergraduate degree in mathematics along with a K-6 elementary teaching certificate.<br \/>\n<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column one-fifth\"><br \/>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><\/figure><br \/>\n<\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column four-fifths\"><br \/>\n<strong>Meiyin Wu <\/strong>\u2022 Passaic River Institute<br \/>\n<em>Stopping Trash Where it Starts<\/em><br \/>\nNew York-New Jersey Harbor &amp; Estuary Program<br \/>\n$43,815<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThis project, funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency, will characterize and identify the sources of trash and floatables of the Passaic River and the Newark Bay, the local conditions contributing to trash dispersal, and community-specific actions for reducing trash at the source.
