alt=&#8221;screenshot of toolbar&#8217;s Edit Page button&#8221; width=&#8221;150&#8243; height=&#8221;150&#8243; \/&gt;<\/figure>\n<p>Hover over your username to edit your profile or to log out.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/toolbar-6.png.5.1x.generic.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/toolbar-6.png.5.1x.generic.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"prpl-band\"><div class=\"prpl-band-content\">\n<h2 id=\"editp\">Editing a Page<\/h2>\n<p>The WordPress <strong>Edit Page<\/strong> interface is broken into two columns.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/edit-page.png.5.1x.generic.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/edit-page.png.5.1x.generic.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<h3>Left Column<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Page Title:<\/strong> This will appear superimposed on the feature image and in the browser\u2019s title bar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Permalink:<\/strong> This is the equivalent of the page\u2019s name.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add Media: <\/strong>This button will enable you to add images to a page or link to PDF files.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Page Content: <\/strong>This WYSIWYG editor is where you edit the contents of your page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Right Column<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Publish Toolbox:<\/strong> Allows you to preview a page, publish, update or even unpublish a page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Featured Image:<\/strong> This toolbox allows you to select an image from your media library.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Placement in Navigation:<\/strong> Allows you to select the page\u2019s parent, which affects the URL.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"pub\">Publishing vs. Updating<\/h3>\n<p>When you create a new page in WordPress, that page is given <strong>Draft <\/strong>status by default. Pages in <strong>Draft<\/strong> status are available to website editors but not visitors.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re ready to make the page available to the public, press the blue <strong>Publish<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re editing a page that\u2019s already been published, the blue <strong>Publish <\/strong>button will be replaced with a blue <strong>Update<\/strong> button. Updates to existing pages won\u2019t change their publishing status or publication date.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"prpl-band\"><div class=\"prpl-band-content\">\n<h2 id=\"menu\">Editing 糖心vlogs<\/h2>\n<p>When you create a page in WordPress it will not automatically be added to the menu. You must do this manually. To edit the menu, first go to <strong>Appearance<\/strong> in the dashboard, then <strong>糖心vlogs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/menu1.png.5.1x.generic.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/menu1.png.5.1x.generic.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>Edit 糖心vlog<\/strong> page is broken into two columns.<\/p>\n<h3>Left Column<\/h3>\n<p>The left column displays items you can add to the menu.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pages:<\/strong> You can find recent pages, view the entire site tree, or search by title.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Posts: <\/strong>If you want to link to a news article you can search for it under posts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Custom Links:<\/strong> This allows you to supply a label and URL to create a link.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Categories:<\/strong> Links to a category of posts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tags:<\/strong> Links to a collection of posts with the same tags.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Right Column<\/h3>\n<p>The right column is for re-ordering and editing menu items.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/menu2.png.5.1x.generic.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/university-communications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2024\/12\/menu2.png.5.1x.generic.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Drag and drop items to re-order them. Pay attention to the dotted-line box \u2013 it will let you know where the item will go when you release it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"prpl-band\"><div class=\"prpl-band-content\">\n<h2 id=\"media\">Managing Media<\/h2>\n<p>When you upload an image or PDF file in WordPress, it gets placed in the <strong>Media Library<\/strong>.
