Our Montclair campus features 19 NCAA Division III Red Hawks athletics teams, while our Bloomfield campus features four USCAA intercollegiate athletics programs - giving you the chance to watch some of the top teams in the country throughout the year.

Throughout our history, we鈥檝e been changemakers. 

Montclair is the first public school in New Jersey to: 

  • Offer master鈥檚 degrees
  • Offer multiple doctoral programs
  • Install an innovative microgrid that can function independently and generate its own electrical power
  • Establish a first-of-its-kind online graduate-level certificate titled 鈥Harm Reduction Approaches to Substance Use鈥

And the first in the country to:

  • Achieve the first merger between a public university and a private college when we merged with Bloomfield College in 2023, ensuring that Bloomfield鈥檚 important mission continues
  • Launch our own streaming service, , in our College of Communication and Media
