Creative Writing

  • Minor
Student working on writing excersises.

The Creative Writing minor gives you the opportunity to develop your writing and find your voice while exploring fiction, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, and memoir. You’ll build your skills through writing workshops, where you’ll experiment with different forms and styles and receive feedback from faculty and fellow writers.

As a Creative Writing minor, you’ll choose fiction or poetry as your primary area of focus and progress through beginning, intermediate, and advanced workshops, culminating in a capstone project. You’ll also take workshops in other genres and a literature course related to your area of focus. Whether you’re interested in writing, publishing, media, or simply want to become a stronger and more creative communicator, the minor can complement your studies in a wide range of fields.

Please note: The Creative Writing concentration in the English BA cannot be combined with a dual degree program or another concentration in English. The Creative Writing minor can be combined with these programs.
