Policies and Procedures

Onboarding/Offboarding

The onboarding and offboarding policy ensures that faculty and staff are properly set up with the technology resources they need when joining the college and that those resources are securely removed when they depart. Onboarding includes the provisioning of accounts, access permissions, and equipment. Offboarding includes the return of university-issued devices, the disabling of accounts, and the secure removal of institutional data.

Employees must complete the appropriate onboarding or offboarding forms linked below to ensure a smooth and secure transition.

Local Administrative Rights

A local administrator is a person who has access to manage her or his own computer. The responsibilities of a local administrator involve the operating system, hardware installations and configurations, application installations, and upgrades. In most cases, Technology Services for CCHL and CEEL can work with clients to install and update software and make changes to configurations. A local administrator account is only provisioned under exceptional circumstances.

You can read more about the administrative rights policy below.

Client Use Administrative Rights Policy

Managed Machine Group Administrator

In some cases, a faculty or staff member serves as a lab coordinator and manages third-party/custom software on a group of computers. A client serving in this capacity may request a privileged account. If you are a faculty or staff member managing custom software on multiple machines and you require administrative access to do so, please contact CEEL Technology Services directly.

Printing Policy and Procedures

The goal of the printer policy is to control costs, ensure that equipment is properly maintained and in working order, and ensure compliance of responsible use of computing equipment (i.e. for University business).

In information technology, hardware refers to the physical aspect of computers, telecommunications, and other devices. Hardware includes not only the computer proper but also the cables, connectors, power supply units, and peripheral devices such as the keyboard, mouse, audio speakers, and printers.

Data Transfer and Retention Policy

The Data Transfer and Retention Policy establishes procedures for securely transferring and temporarily retaining data on ÌÇÐÄvlog computers managed by CEEL Technology Services. Data transfers may occur during computer lifecycle replacements, hard drive reimaging, or other technical support interventions.

Transferred data is retained for ten (10) business days after the device is returned to the user, allowing time to confirm data integrity. If no issues are reported by the end of the retention period, the retained data will be deleted. Users are responsible for reviewing their data upon return and contacting CEEL Technology Services immediately if discrepancies are found.
