Biography

Joseph Bolen is an educator, administrator, and communications instructor with 21 years of experience in public education. He serves as Director of Personnel & Instruction for Newton Public Schools, where he has worked for 17 years, including 13 years as an English Language Arts teacher and four years in district administration.

Mr. Bolen holds master’s degrees in Educational Practice and Educational Leadership from Centenary University. He was recognized as Newton Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year through the Governor’s Recognition Program in 2019. Alongside his K–12 leadership work, he serves as an adjunct professor in Centenary University’s Educational Practice Department and ����vlog’s College of Communication and Media, emphasizing preparation, organization, audience awareness, and confident public speaking.

A frequent conference presenter, Mr. Bolen shares practical strategies with educators at TECHSPO and the annual New Jersey Association for Gifted Children conference. In October 2026, he will present “What Your School May Be Overlooking in Teaching Exceptional Students—and How to Fix It” at the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Workshop 2026 in Atlantic City.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys running, working out, traveling with his girlfriend and their blended family, and following professional sports. He values relationships, continual growth, and helping students, educators, and colleagues develop the confidence and skills to succeed.
