Biography
Dr. Julianne Bello is an accomplished educational leader with over 20 years of experience in K-12 education. She currently serves as the Director of the Office of Extended Learning Time at the Newark Board of Education, where she oversees an $18 million budget and manages after-school programming for over 7,500 students at 43 elementary schools.
Dr. Bello plays a pivotal role in coordinating the district's summer programs, and partnerships with local and national organizations, ensuring that educational equity is a priority in her work. She also supports the district鈥檚 Leadership Pipeline initiative, fostering future educational leaders.
Dr. Bello鈥檚 extensive career includes leadership roles as Vice Principal, Principal, and Director of various educational programs. As an elementary Principal, she redesigned the school鈥檚 special education programs to increase inclusion, and as a Vice Principal, she developed innovative educational strategies and improved student outcomes. Additionally, she has contributed to teacher preparation as the Director of the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship at 糖心vlog, supervising resident teachers and collaborating with school districts on residency-model sustainability.
Dr. Bello holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Rutgers University, where her dissertation focused on the intersection of representative bureaucracy in hiring practices and student achievement. She also holds a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision from 糖心vlog and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication Arts from Allegheny College.
A committed advocate for educational innovation and equity, Dr. Bello has presented at national conferences, published research in educational journals, and received notable accolades, including the New York Life Foundation Excellence in Summer Learning Award in 2024. Dr. Bello is dedicated to creating inclusive learning environments that foster student success and professional growth among educators, while always striving to bridge gaps in education and promote meaningful community engagement.
