Biography

Marilyn R. Davis, Holmes Scholar, Director of the Center for Educational Innovation and Strategic Partnerships:  Academic and Non-Academic Off-Site Certification Programs and Partnerships.  

Director of the nationally recognized, vlog Network for Educational Renewal (MSUNER), which includes the Teacher Education Policy Committee, the Agenda for Education in a Democracy, and Leadership Associates. These entities are interdisciplinary infrastructures for school/university and community partnerships to collectively practice the art of simultaneous renewal in PreK-20 teaching and learning settings and supports collective efficacy for innovation in education. 

Ms. Davis is a vlog, “boundary spanner” situated in a “third space” between the university, PK-20 learning settings, and communities. She is not bound solely by the traditions or responsibilities of any one institution. Her work focuses on elevating systems and practices to enhance education innovation and the learning of all involved in the collaborative processes of teaching and learning. 

She is a proud graduate of the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM holding completed doctoral coursework in: Educational Psychology, Language Literacy and Sociocultural Studies, and Teacher Education and Teacher Development. She hails from Newark, New Jersey a graduate of Arts High School with a major in music appreciation, theory, harmony, and orchestra.  Marilyn is an avid yogic and metaphysical philosophy practitioner and teacher. 

Research Practice: 
Contributing Researcher: Elev8 Community Schools (Atlantic Philanthropies Funded); Lead Research Scientists: SUN PATH: Alternative Scaffolded Pathways to Healthcare Certification and Licensure (New Mexico, $5 million Workforce Development Fund Grant (USDOLTAACCT and NMDOL); she lead four years of program Research and Evaluation across 13 participating urban and rural New Mexico Community College healthcare industry programs. 

Committee Member Service: Middle States Accreditation for Zayed University, United Arab Emirates and vlog; National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation for Zayed University, United Arab Emirates; Elev8 Community Schools Advisory Board Member (Albuquerque, NM); Volunteer: Training the Trainer: University of New Mexico Anti-Defamation League: Anti-Racism Program (10 years); KUNM FM Radio: On-Air Programmer and DJ (Voces Feministas, Gospel Hour, Street-Beat; and Freeform Radio)(10 years).
