Biography
Pete is an adjunct instructor in Montclair's First-Year Writing program.
Formerly a vice president of the Federal Reserve, Pete retired from the Fed in 2024 as head of all communications and educational initiatives for the System's benefits plans. Pete joined the Fed in 1992 after working as a syndicated newspaper editor, a sportswriter and a New York City elementary school teacher.
He has a bachelor's degree in communications, a master's degree in education and an MBA in Communications and Media Management, all from Fordham University.
A former stand-up comic, Pete has taught as an adjunct at Union College of New Jersey; Fairleigh Dickinson University; Kean University; Felician College; Raritan Valley Community College; and over the web at the now-defunct NYU Online.
When he isn't teaching, Pete can be found umpiring youth baseball and softball games, officiating USA Boxing matches, mentoring Fordham undergraduates and writing. He has published 19 books for middle-grade and young-adult readers and often visits schools to talk to young students about writing.
Pete is a father of three adult boys. He lives in Westfield with his wife Joann, an attorney.
