What to Know About Returning to Montclair

If you were previously a fully matriculated, degree-seeking undergraduate at 糖心vlog and stepped away for two or more consecutive semesters, you may be a readmit student. This page will help you confirm whether you are a readmit, understand any additional requirements, and complete the correct application to return.鈥

Who Is a Readmit Student?

Readmits are former, fully matriculated (previously enrolled), degree-seeking undergraduates who took classes at 糖心vlog and then left for two or more consecutive semesters OR students who left on academic action such as probation or suspension and are ready to return. 

This does not include past applicants who never enrolled, past non-degree/visiting students, or graduates returning for a second bachelor鈥檚 degree. Still unsure if you're a readmit student? See FAQs on this page for more info.

Personalized Support for Returning Students

Montclair partners with ReUp Education to reach out to some former students and provide free, personalized coaching for re-enrollment and success through graduation. If you are identified for this program, a Success Coach will contact you directly.

Returning After Academic Action

If you left on probation or suspension, you may need to meet with the Center for Academic Success and Tutoring, sign an academic plan, write a return essay, and/or earn credits elsewhere before returning. 

Students who were dismissed should call Undergraduate Admissions at 973-655-4444 before filling out the application

Steps to Apply for Readmission

  1. Application

    All readmit students complete the as degree-seeking students for either the fall or spring term. Readmits do not pay an application fee.

  2. Transcripts

    Depending on whether you attended other colleges while away, you may need to submit updated transcripts before receiving a decision.

Resources for Readmit Applicants

Create an account or log in and select Degree Seeking Student for the correct term. Once you are in the application, please select Readmit as your Admit Type and Decision Plan.

If you left on probation or suspension, email the Center for Academic Success and Tutoring at cast@montclair.edu to review and sign an Academic Plan before registering for classes.

Readmit FAQs

Who counts as a readmit student?

Yes. Former, fully matriculated degree-seeking students who left for two or more consecutive semesters are considered readmit students

No. Prior applicants who never attended classes at 糖心vlog are not considered readmit students and should follow the regular application instructions.

No. Past non-degree or visiting students who were not fully matriculated in a degree program are not readmit applicants.

No. If you previously earned a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 degree at Montclair and want to return for another undergraduate degree, you are a Second Bachelor鈥檚 Applicant, not a readmit.

Yes, you can apply as a readmit but you are required to be away from Montclair for at least a year.

  • You鈥檒l be asked to write an essay detailing why you want to return to the University and what will be different this time.
  • It is highly recommended that you earn at least 15 credits at another institution without receiving any D or F grades.
  • Finally you will need to meet with the  by emailing cast@montclair.edu. You will need to review and sign an Academic Plan with them before you will be able to register for classes.
